 Silenzio è un'installazione realizzata in memoria delle 309 vittime del terremoto di L’Aquila del 6 aprile 2009, esposta  al Padiglioni Italia-Regione Abruzzo della 54ª Biennale di Venezia (2011), per il 150° dell'Unità d’Italia. L’opera è composta da 309 corpi (progetto aperto) in papier-mâché, realizzati attraverso un’unica matrice in gesso, disposti con lo sguardo rivolto verso la parete, come a voler ricongiungersi con la Terra stessa che li ha visti nascere. Sono privi di caratterizzazioni individuali e uniformemente bianchi, a sottolineare una dimensione collettiva della memoria, superando l'identità del singolo, per restituire il senso universale della perdita. La scelta della carta come materiale costitutivo mette in rilievo il tema della fragilità e vulnerabilità della condizione umana.








Silenzio is an installation created in memory of the 309 victims of the earthquake that struck L’Aquila on 6 April 2009. It was exhibited at the Italy–Abruzzo Region Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale (2011), on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. The work consists of 309 (work in progress) papier-mâché bodies, produced from a single plaster mould and arranged facing the wall, as though seeking to reunite with the very Earth that witnessed their birth. Devoid of individual characteristics and uniformly white, they emphasise a collective dimension of memory, transcending individual identity to convey the universal experience of loss. The choice of paper as the material from which they are made foregrounds the fragility and vulnerability of the human condition.
