Ninnananna is a video in which, through macro shots, I trace with a ballpoint pen every stretch mark that has appeared on my legs since I was eleven years old. The audio accompanying the video comes from my archive of intimate reflections, which I record periodically as they arise from spontaneous thought. The work unfolds as a narrative of identity in the form of a stream of consciousness: direct, imperfect, emotionally exposed, resembling an open, unedited nocturnal diary, immediate and unconscious. The act of narrating myself becomes the work itself and, for me, an act of courage. In this process, the tension between the Id and the Ego, in the Freudian sense, emerges: the Id surfaces as an uncontrolled trace and mark, while the Ego intervenes to name it by tracing over it. The stretch marks appear as visible psychophysical ruptures that have emerged and healed at the surface. I retrace them one by one, marking their lines with a ballpoint pen in an almost obsessive gesture that restores visibility to traumas that have gone unnoticed. The macro framing emphasises otherwise negligible details, preventing the mark from dissolving. In parallel, the voice-over moves through episodes, absences, and family wounds, composing a fragmentary and unstable narrative. A correspondence thus emerges between word and surface: what is spoken finds an immediate echo in the body. Here, the image relinquishes all idealisation: it is raw and harsh, invasive and explicit. Within this discrepancy, a further tension opens up, as the title becomes gentle, almost consoling, to the point of being cloying, as though attempting, however precariously, to soften what remains irreducible.
