Entanglement racchiude un nucleo di opere realizzate mediante l’intervento di chimici fotografici su carte emulsionate intrecciate e cucite a mano con filo di cotone. La serie, avviata nel 2009, prosegue come progetto quotidiano aperto a molteplici declinazioni e si basa sui concetti di memoria e del tramandare.
Questi arazzi assumono talvolta l’aspetto di bassorilievi in cui, espandendo la nozione tradizionale di pittura, la frammentazione della superficie e la scomposizione cromatica e luminosa, costituiscono il processo attraverso cui l’immagine prende forma. In altri casi diventano corpi tridimensionali ripiegati su sé stessi e disposti su sgabelli domestici che li elevano e li pongono al centro della scena, assumendo la funzione di veri e propri piedistalli esistenziali. Questi corpi diventano contenitori che tengono insieme, ricompongono e riparano i brandelli del proprio vissuto. La forza di gravità e lo scorrere del tempo ne determinano progressivamente la trasformazione: le forme assumono configurazioni provvisorie, si deformano, cedono e collassano su sé stesse, a volte fino a cadere a terra.
Entanglement comprises a body of works created by applying photographic chemicals to emulsion-coated papers interwoven and hand-sewn with cotton thread. Initiated in 2009, the series continues as an open-ended daily project that lends itself to multiple variations and is grounded in the concepts of memory and transmission.
At times, these tapestries take the form of bas-reliefs in which the fragmentation of the surface and the decomposition of colour and light constitute the processes through which the image takes shape, expanding the traditional notion of painting. In other instances, they become three-dimensional bodies folded in on themselves and placed on domestic stools that elevate them and position them at the centre of the scene, assuming the role of existential pedestals in their own right. These bodies become containers that hold together, reassemble, and repair the fragments of their own lived experience. Gravity and the passage of time progressively determine their transformation: the forms assume provisional configurations, deform, give way, and collapse in on themselves, sometimes eventually falling to the ground.
